History

1907 - The Geological and Mineralogical Service of Brazil is created - under the Ministry of Industry, Transport and Public Works;

1933 - The Directorate-General of Scientific Research is created - under the jurisdiction of the Geological and Mineralogical Service;

1933 - The Directorate-General of Mineral Procuction is created - under the Ministry of Agriculture;

1934 - The National Department of Mineral Production is created, by Decree 23,979, of 03/08/34, which also extinguished the directorate-General of Scientific Research;

1960 - The Ministry of Mines and Energy is created - MME. The DNPM is placed under the MME;

1990 - The Ministry of Mines and Enerrgy is incorporatede into the recently created Ministry of Infra-Structure. DNPM comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Infra-Structure;

1992 - The Ministry of Infra-Structure is dismembered and the Ministry of Mines and Energy comes to fore again. DNPM is placed again under the Ministry of Mines and Energy;

1994 - The Executive is authorized, by Law no. 8,876, of 02/06/94, to turn the National Departament of Mineral Production - DNPM into a self-governing body (autharchy);

1994 - The National Department of Mineral Production - DNPM is actually established as a self-governing body, by Decree no. 1,324, of 12/02/94;

1995 - The bylaws of the National Department of Mineral Production - DNPM are approved by Regulation no. 42, of 02/22/95;

2000 - Decree nº 3,576 - that approves the Regimental Structure of the DNPM - National Department of Mineral Production, and gives other steps. REVOKED for the Decree nº 4.640/2003;

2003 - Decree nº 4,640 - it approves the Regimental Structure of the DNPM - National Department of Mineral Production, and gives other steps;

2003 - Regulation Nº 385 - Approves the Internal Regulation of the National Department of Mineral Production - DNPM.
