Mineral Summary 2003
Foreword

    The National Department of Mineral Production - DNPM, an agency of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, is pleased to present the Mineral Summary 2003 edition, a sequential publication initiated in 1981.
    The Mineral Summary consolidates Mineral Economy studies, while analyses the facts that explain the behavior of fifty mineral commodities - including petroleum and natural gas - which represent approximately 90% of the value of Brazilian mineral production. Furthermore, aiming to promote democratization of information related to the Brazilian Mineral Sector.
    Last but not least, I would like to make know our recognition and thank all the technical staff for the effort of putting together a study on each mineral commodity as well as the support staff and co-workers, who contributed with the elaboration of this important study by the DIDEM - Directory of Development and Mineral Economy of the DNPM: the Mineral Summary - 2003.
